Year 1 and Year 2

In these years we try to develop hand to eye coordination by developing the ability to hold and use simple tools.

  • Encourage your son/daughter to colour in colouring pages - you can find all sorts of different types of pictures on just about any of your son/daughters favourite cartoon characters. Get them to show you how they can keep the colour inside the lines and how they don't leave any spaces.

  • As a finishing touch, get them to show you how they can cut out the picture using scissors.

  • Don't forget to show off their work! A few fridge magnets can quickly turn your refridgerator into a pride of place Art gallery that your child will love because it means their work is perfect!

Year 1 through to Year 6

Encourage your child to play with Lego, it is a very effective learning toy. It helps to develop hand to eye coordination, problem solving and encourages imagination. All 3 of these skills are the building blocks of Design and Tecnology.
